PHOTO-CHEMICAL ETCHING PROCESS STEP BY STEP

What’s the photo chemical etching?

Photo chemical etching, also known as chemical etching or photo etching. It’s a chemical process that involves using a corrosive substance, typically an acid or a chemical etchant, to create designs patterns, or inscriptions on the surface of a sheet metal.

Step 1 Choosing Materials

Chemical etching can apply almost any sheet metal. Choose the material according to customer’s requests.

Step 2 Cleaning

First we will clean the sheet metals. This step is to remove the oil stains on the surface of the metal.

Step 3 Screen printing

And then A (UV) light-sensitive photoresist applies onto the surface of the metal substrate. It can protect the metals which are not be etched.

Step 4 Exposing

After that, use the stencil film to place over the photo-resist-coated metal substrate. The design is transferred to the photo-resist by exposing the sheet to UV light through a stencil film.

Developing 5

After exposing, we will put the sheet metal in to the developing equipment, it removes the unexposed areas of the photo-resist, leaving behind a patterned layer corresponding to the desired part design.

Step 6 Etching

The metal substrate is then immersed in an etchant solution, which chemically dissolves the exposed metal areas not protected by the developed photo-resist.

Step 7 Stripping

Once the etching is complete, we will remove the remaining photo-resist from the metal surface, typically through a stripping process.

Step 8 Measuring

Use image measuring instrument to check the appearance and dimension.

Step 9 Finishing

The resulting part may undergo additional finishing steps such as deburring, cleaning, and surface treatment to achieve the desired final properties and appearance.
